Trivia Crack

Trivia Crack is an app that is available for both systems that operate on iOS as well as Android devices. It is an app that you compete with people on. You first download the app, and you can connect it with your Facebook, your Twitter, or both. You then compete with people. The game is basically a bunch of quizzes. You compete with people, and you take turns answering questions. The different types of questions are geography, science, history, sports, art, and entertainment. When it is your turn you spin the wheel, landing on any of those spots or a crown, all which have an equal probability of being chosen. As of now, just ignore the crown spot, as I will be coming back to that later. For whichever spot the spinner lands on, you answer a question about that. If you get the question over that topic correct, then you get to spin again and keep going. However, if you get the question wrong, then your turn is over and it is the other person’s turn.
When answering questions, there are a few powerups that you have at your disposal that can help you. The powerups are as follows: extra time, bomb, double chance, and skip. The extra time gives you extra time to answer the question, as you only get twenty seconds to answer the question. The bomb powerup removes two of the incorrect answers, leaving you with only two options left. The double chance powerup lets you guess two options instead of just one. The skip powerup lets you skip that question, giving you a new question of the same topic. Once you use a powerup, you cannot use another powerup. You have to buy powerups, though. You buy them with coins that you earn by answering questions correctly. You can get the extra time powerup with four coins, the bomb powerup with six coins, the double chance powerup with three coins, and the skip powerup you can get with five coins.
You need to get three questions right to attempt for a crown. There are six crowns, each one representing each of the six question topics. These do not need to get all three in a row in one turn; you just need to have gotten three questions right. However, you can also spin and get the spinner to land on the crown option instead. Both of these two lead to the same outcome: you choosing which crown to attempt for. Whichever crown you attempt to get, you will need to answer a question of that topic to gain that crown. If you answer the question correctly then you gain the crown. However, if you do not answer the question correctly, then your turn is over, and your number of questions correct resets, so you need to get another three correct to attempt for a crown, or spin the crown itself. The winner of the game is whoever gets all six crowns first.
You do not always need to attempt for a crown. You can also challenge your opponent. In order to challenge your opponent, you both need to have at least one crown. By challenging your opponent you both answer six questions, one for each topic. You answer all six questions first. After that, your opponent answers the same six questions. Whoever answers the most questions wins the challenge. They will gain their opponents crown that was selected then. Your opponent will also loose the crown that you gain. That all, however, occurs only if you win.
Trivia Crack is a fun and entertaining app that many people play. You can play friends from social media, or you can play random people. It is a great way to pass the time, and by doing so you also learn information from the various questions that you answer.

Dave Grohl

Dave Grohl is a very talented musician and he has been a part of many bands. Many people, including myself, find his music very entertaining, and enjoy his music. Dave Grohl started his music career with Nirvana, as their drummer. That is where and how he started his music career and made a name for himself. Nirvana’s lead singer was Kurt Cobain, who at the age of around 27 committed suicide by shooting himself in his brain through his mouth. In the autopsy of his body there was a lot of drugs, indicating a drug overdose. However, the amount of drugs in his system was enough meth for multiple men to overdose, making people wonder. However, Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl were two members of the band Nirvana. Some of the more well known Nirvana songs are Smells Like Teen Spirit, The Man Who Sold the World, Come as You Are, Heart-Shaped Box, Lithium, About a Girl, All Apologies, Waif Me, In Bloom, Where Did you Sleep Last Night, Something in the Way, Sappy, Dumb, You Know You’re Right, Lake of Fire, On a Plain, Pennyroyal Tea, Territorial Pissings, Serve the Servants, Drain You, Silver, Polly, Lounge Act, Aneurysm, Endless Nameless, Breed, Plateau, and Rape Me. Through his time in Nirvana Dave Grohl was able to make a name for himself.

After Kurt Cobain’s suicide, the band of Nirvana was dissolved. However, Dave Grohl wanted to stay in the music industry, so he formed another band, the Foo Fighters. The Foo Fighters are also very popular. They are known for some their more well known songs. Some of their many songs are Everlong, Learn to Fly, The Pretender, Best of You, Times Like These, Something from Nothing, Walk, Big Me, All my Life, Congregation, My Hero, Monkey Wrench, DOA, These Days, Wheels, Long Road to Ruin, Subterranean, This is a Call, Arlandria, Dear Rosemary, Breakout, White Limo, Rope, Walking After You, Stranger Things Have Happened, I’ll Stick Around, In the Clear, I am a River, The Feast and the Famine, Stacked Actors, I should have Known, Let it Die, Come Alive, What Did I Do/God As My Witness, and Skin and Bones. The Foo Fighters, along with Dave Grohl, are still around today, continuing to make albums and songs and tour across the country and in other areas. They just recently came out with a new album, titled Saint Cecilia.

This last year, on tour, Dave Grohl broke his leg. However, he kept up with the tours that had already been planned, changed the name of the tour to the Break a Leg Tour, and got himself a throne made from which he could perform onstage from.

The Violent Femmes

One way to entertain oneself is by listening to music. There are many, many, many different types of music, as well as many different bands and artists. There are many different songs out there as well. Today, I will be talking about one band in particular. This band is an alternative band, and they have been to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, relatively recently. By relatively recently I mean that they performed here in Cedar Rapids over this past summer, over the summer of two thousand and fifteen if I remember correctly. This band that I am talking about uses an acoustic guitar in many songs, and they are a little weird with their songs I guess. It take an acquired taste to appreciate their songs. Two of their more famous songs are the songs “Add It Up”, as well as the song “Blister in the Sun” being two of their more popular songs that many people know of. This band is called the Violent Femmes.

Star Wars

As many people know, the new Star Wars movie, Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens, is premiering this week. On Thursday night it will be premiering. It is the seventh entry in the film series, as a main film, with many other small spin off movies or tv shows as well. The first movies to come out were the original trilogy, which consists of the Episodes four, five and six, which were A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, respectively. The very first movie to be made, A New Hope, was originally called Star Wars, and at first the entire sage, much less the original trilogy, was not even planned out. It depicts Luke Skywalker becoming a Jedi and destroying the Death Star, along with Han Solo, Chewbaca, C3PO, and R2-D2. The next film, The Empire Strikes Back, continues on it. Darth Vader is still alive, so Luke, Han, and the rest of them have to battle them again. In The Empire Strikes Back, Yoda is introduced, the Force is explained, Han is tortured and made into an art piece, and Darth Vader reveals that he is really Luke's father. Then, in Return of the Jedi, this original trilogy comes to an end. Luke goes in and saves Han Solo, Bobba Fett dies, Yoda dies, and the final battle comes to an end. The Death Star needs to be destroyed, and the Dark Sith needs to be taken down. Luke goes into a head on against Darth Vader and the Dark Sith, almost going to the dark side of the force, but staying back and restraining. Darth Vader kills the Dark Sith before he is able to kill Luke, Darth Vader's son, and then Darth Vader ultimately dies as well. Luke escapes from the Death Star just in time before it blows up. At the end of the movie, the Dark Side of the Force was defeated.

Then, the prequel trilogy was released. It consists of Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, and Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. In Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, we are introduced to Anakin Skywalker, and that he is the chosen one. He gets to be trained by Obi-Wan, who becomes a Jedi in the movie. Then, in Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, the two are Jedis together, and it depicts the lead up to the Clone Wars, a tv show and mini movie that is not part of the main franchise. In Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith, Anakin is taken to the Dark Side by Chancellor Palpatine, who is the Dark Sith. A majority of all of the Jedi are brutally murdered, and Obi Wan defeats Anakin, who then becomes Dark Vader, finally setting up the original trilogy.

All in all, the worst movie was, by far, Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, because it offered virtually nothing good to the franchise, and Jar Jar Binks was in it. Then, Episode 2: Attack of the Clones was the next worse, and then Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. The original trilogy is far better than the prequel trilogy, in almost every aspect, with possibly a few exceptions here and there. In the original trilogy, all three are better than any of the prequel movies, as previously stated. After the prequel trilogy, I think that A New Hope goes next. I think that it is a great movie, setting up everything else in the next two movies, but the other two are just a bit better I think. I think that next is the Return of the Jedi, as it wraps everything up, the final good against evil, Dark Sith is defeated, and Darth Vader is done for. The best film, in my opinion, is the Empire Strikes Back, as it introduces Yoda, it explains the force, it is the darkest film in the original trilogy, it has Han Solo become a piece of art, making you unsure if he will be back, and, above all, Darth Vader reveals that he is Luke Skywalker's father. All in all, the Star Wars franchise is an amazing franchise.

Can Blogging be Entertaining?

I need to have another fifty one words for my blogs this week, so here goes. Alright, less than forty more words to go. I am on a roll. See, this is very entertaining. Blog and you will then be able to entertain yourself for a little bit. Oh look I have entertained myself for enough time to be able to stop. Yay!

The Office

The Office is a show that has received a lot of acclaim. The first season sort of starts off slow. It kind of drags on, like this blog is going to do. Then the second season it starts to pick up, and it starts a going. Speaking of a going, that reminds me of the song Rock of Ages by Deaf Leopard, which contains the lyrics keep a going, keep a going. Anyways, back to the topic of this blog. The Office. Well, it stars Steve Carrel as Michael Scott, the head manager of the branch of Dundler Mifflin, located in Scranton, Pennslyvania. It is fictional. Some other main characters are Dwight Schrute, played by Rainn Wilson; Jim Halpert played by John Krasinski; Pam Beesly played by Jenna Fischer; Ryan Howard played by B. J. Novak; and Andy Bernard, played by Ed Helms. Some other prominent characters are Angela Martin played by Angela Kinsey, Kelly Kapoor played by Mindy Kaling, Oscar Martinez played by Oscar Nunez, Darryl Philbin played by Craig Robinson, Erin Hannon played by Ellie Kemper, Toby Flenderson played by Paul Lieberstein, Kevin Malone played by Brian Baumgartner, Phyllis Lapin played by Phyllis Smith, Stanley Hudson played by Leslie David Baker, Meredith Palmer played by Kate Flannery, Creed Bratton played by himself, Creed Bratton, Roy Anderson played by David Denman, Holly Flax played by Amy Ryan, Jan Levinson played by Melora Hardin, and David Wallace played by Andy Buckley.
The show focuses on the Scranton branch and what goes on there. Michael is the regional manager, and he is a goof off and a “moron”, who is basically an idiot who does not deserve the job he has. However, he does somehow manage to perform well in his position. Dwight is a little out there, and he is almost crazy. He is also a farmer and he is just plain out weird. Jim, like Dwight, is a salesman. He pulls pranks on Dwight and it is very comical. He gets promoted to co manager of the Scranton Branch at some point as well. He is in love with Pam. Pam is the receptionist, and then later a sales woman. She falls in love with Jim as well. Ryan is originally a temp, then becomes very high up in the company, only to commit fraud, get fired, and then become re hired and become another salesman, only to get fired again. He continually has a love interest in Kelly. Andy gets moved over to the Scranton branch as a salesman too, and he originally has anger management and then he becomes friends with Dwight and he is an interesting character.
This is just a very brief overview of the show, The Office.

Christmas Music

Christmas time is here now, yet again. And that means one thing for some people, and that is Christmas music. Christmas music. Some people play Christmas music way too much. Sure, it is very entertaining to them. But think about other people. Do you think they always want to hear Christmas music everywhere they go? Probably not everyone. Actually, let me rephrase that. Definitely not everyone. There are too many people that are obsessed with Christmas music. Sure, it is good and okay to listen to it for a little bit during the Christmas season. But Christmas season starts in December. Not in November. Not before Thanksgiving. Not in October. But in December. DECEMBER. Not any earlier than December. From December first through the last day in December, which I believe is December thirtieth, or maybe December thirty-first, wait yes it is definitely December thirty-first, well that is the only available time to play Christmas music. If you play it then then it will be good to listen to. Otherwise, you should listen to your Christmas music alone, or only with people that you know want to listen to Christmas music as well. Otherwise, Christmas music can be very good, just when being listened to under the right and correct circumstances during the holiday season.

Christmas Trees

Christmas time is here, like it is every year, so this blog is about Christmas. More specifically this blog is about Christmas trees. Now a days, some families have fake Christmas trees. Their Christmas trees are fake, usually plastic, and they last a few years, making it very easy to assemble during the holidays as well as allowing you to not have to worry about the hassle of finding, then cutting down and getting a Christmas tree for the holidays every single year. However, a lot of people do not like fake Christmas trees. That is because the fake Christmas trees are not as joyful and not as much in the holiday spirit as real Christmas trees. Real Christmas trees are much more joyful and merry and in the holiday spirit. Families can go out and find a tree that they want out on a tree farm, and then cut it down and bring it to their house. Then, they have to put it in a stand in their house, usually in their living room. Once the tree is set up, it will need to be watered. Also, you may want to clean up any mess that may have been made while bringing the tree in and setting it up. After it is set up, you will want to decorate the Christmas tree. The tree is decorated with Christmas ornaments and lights. The lights go on first all around the tree, wrapped around the tree multiple times. Then there is a tree topper on top of the tree. Tree toppers are usually either a star or an angel. Then, you can decorate the tree with the Christmas ornaments and you can make it seem all Christmasy and in the holiday spirit. Have fun decorating your Christmas tree this holiday season!

High School Jobs

A lot of people work. A lot of people. There are so many jobs out there that people can have, but today I am only going to write about the types of jobs that high schoolers generally have, instead of those that are people’s careers, or an adult job that someone can live off of doing that job. High schoolers will almost always work part time, never full time, with a few exceptions every now and then. There are many different high schoolers, and each high schooler is different, so there are a multitude of jobs out there to accompany most high schoolers. Here are a few of the more popular and more talked about jobs that high schoolers will usually have.

Some high schoolers are lifeguards. Most lifeguards will have only a seasonal job for during the summer when school is not in session, but some lifeguards will work year round at an indoor pool. A lot of swimmers will end up lifeguarding during high school, and a lot of lifeguards tend to be swimmers, but not all of them. There are still a lot of lifeguards who do not swim, as well as a lot of swimmers that do not lifeguard. But, as a stereotype, lifeguarding is a popular job among swimmers. One of the very popular traits of the job for people is that it is a seasonal job, only during the summer, when school is not in session. This makes working a lot easier, as there is not really much else going on at that time, increasing people’s availability as well as the amount of money they will then make probably.

Another popular job among high schoolers is to work at a nearby, small business. In Cedar Rapids, an example of this is Parlor City. Parlor City is an ice cream stand that is located very close to Kennedy High School, and a lot of Kennedy High Schoolers will end up working there because of the convenience, as well as it being a good job.

Yet another job that is popular among high schoolers is working at a trampoline park. In Cedar Rapids, there are two trampoline parks. The first one to open was AirFX, and the second one to open was SkyZone. They are both similar in size of the area of trampolines available for the customers to jump on. Both places offer popular jobs for high schoolers as it is easy for a high schooler to oversee the trampoline mats and watch the jumpers. A lot of people have moved over from AirFX to SkyZone when SkyZone opened up, and working at either of those two trampoline parks is a good first job as it is not too intense a job, and it is just a overall good first job for high schoolers.

Yet another job that is popular among high schoolers is to work at a restaurant. One example of a restaurant that some high schoolers work at is Market Grille at Hy-Vee. There you will either be a bus boy, busing the tables and cleaning up after customers, or you would be a waiter or a server, serving and or waiting on the customers and taking their orders. This is a popular job among high schoolers as it is easy enough to get it as a first job, and it provides good job experience.

Another popular job among high schoolers is working at either a grocery store, like Hy-Vee, or a general or convenience store, such as Walmart or Target. These jobs provide good work experience, especially with working with some people that may not be the most pleasant to deal with, resulting in better people skills. Also, the job is fairly easy, with not much required for you to do. All in all, it provides a good job for high schoolers.

There are a lot of good jobs available for high schoolers. There is the option of becoming a lifeguard, working at a nearby small business, working at a trampoline park, at a restaurant, or at a store. There are so many jobs out there for high schoolers to choose from!

Blogging

Do you know something that is very entertaining? Very, very, very entertaining? Well, I will tell you exactly what is very entertaining. Something that is very entertaining is blogging. Yes, blogging. Exactly what I am doing right now. Blogging. Typing on the computer to upload it onto the internet for all and anyone to read if they so chose to and if they so want to and if they have a desire to read it at all. Blogging. Blogging is just so entertaining. I mean it is so much fun it is so crazy how much some people might enjoy blogging. I am however not one of those people. I do not really enjoy blogging. I do not really want to blog. However, I have to blog. Oh well. I can not really get around not blogging. I am therefore blogging and trying to make the best of it, but some people like blogging and they really enjoy blogging so you might too so try blogging if you want.

State Finals

Tonight is the night! It is the state finals for Iowa High School Football, Class Four A, also denoted AAAA, or 4A, or written four a, or Four A, or FOUR A, or any other way of writing or describing four a. Kickoff is tonight at seven o six pm, (also written as 7:06 pm). The date of the game is Monday, November twenty fifth of twenty fifteen, or two thousand fifteen. That is the year. It is the twenty fifteen, or two thousand fifteen, state finals. The game is played in Cedar Falls. It is played in the UNI Dome, which is the football field and stadium for the University of Northern Iowa, thus UNI, so it is the University of Northern Iowa Dome, so it is the UNI Dome. It is scheduled to begin, as already stated, at seven o six pm, so that is when the kickoff is supposed to be. That should hold true, too. That is because the game before this game is scheduled to start at around two pm, so that kickoff will be around two pm. That means that that game should be well done and over by the time the four a state final game is scheduled to begin with kickoff. The game is Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School, the Cedar Rapids Kennedy Cougars, or the JFK Cougars, or even the Cougs, are taking on Dowling Catholic. It should be a lot of fun. Carpool up to the game with a few friends, that is always a lot of fun. Go cheer on your school, or the school that you want to win, with your friends. Go cheer in the student section. That is always a great time.

The game is to be played in the UNI Dome. It was supposed to be played last Friday night on Friday November twentieth of twenty fifteen (or two thousand fifteen for the year). However, it was canceled and delayed until today on Monday. That is because of the giant storm of snow, or the giant snow storm, that passed through on Friday night, starting at around three pm on Friday November 20 of twenty fifteen. Some areas in the areas from around Cedar Rapids and Cedar Falls, Iowa, all the way to Chicago got anywhere up to a whole foot of snow-that is a whole twelve inches! That is a lot of snow! Especially for November! I think that it had set some records in some places. It was a lot of snow.

So the game is being played tonight, at seven o six kickoff, instead of Friday because of the snow storm. If you go it should be a good way to entertain yourself. Go cheer on the Kennedy Cougars and have fun!

Reading

Entertainment. The definition of entertainment, according to Dictionary Reference is a noun and it is “the act of entertaining; agreeable occupation for the mind; diversion; amusement”. It is also “something affording pleasure, diversion, or amusement, especially a performance of some kind;” or “hospitable provision for the needs and wants of guests;” ”a divertingly adventurous, comic, or picaresque novel.” Yet another definition is “maintenance in service.” The definition of entertaining, used in the first definition and the most popular and most common definition, is “to hold the attention of pleasantly or agreeably; divert; amuse.” Or “To have as a guest; provide food, lodging, etc., for; show hospitality to.” Or “To admit into the mind; consider.” Or “To hold in the mind; harbor; cherish.” Or “to maintain or keep up.” Or “To give admittance or reception to; receive.” Arguably, the first definition of both entertainment as well as entertaining are the ones that apply most often to us. I am going to talk about that here today in this here blog.

Entertainment is very entertaining for people, and they enjoy their entertainment and they enjoy being entertained. There are a lot of ways to be entertained. I have already talked about a great many in previous blogs. Some are movies. There are many movies out there. There are comedies, which make you laugh, and some people are very much entertained by that. There are also action movies. Some people are entertained with watching that. There are thriller movies, which entertain even more people. There are also horror movies, which will scare people, and some people find that very entertaining. There are also dramas, which some people find entertaining, as well as romance movies. Science fiction and fantasy movies also entertain many people. Some people very much enjoy documentaries, about something that really happened or something informative. Other people like sports movies. There are many movies out there that are very entertaining, and different people find different movies entertaining.

Books also entertain people. There are generally the same genres for books, but there are arguably more book genres than there are movie genres. There are mysteries, horrors, comedies, suspenseful books, adventure books, young adult books, adult fiction books, children books, and there are a lot of nonfiction books. Nonfiction books cover a wide array of topics. Actually, there is probably a nonfiction book or any type of book for that matter covering any topic that you could think of. Think of something-think of anything. Anything at all. Odds are very, extremely high that there is some book written about it. All you would have to do is locate and find the book, and then find a way to get it into your possession. Whether that is buying the book or renting it from a library or borrowing it from someone is entirely up to you. All in all, books offer a wide array of topics from which they can be about and from which they can inform of, giving many different aspects to which they can be very entertaining for some people while not entertaining at all for others. All in all, books are a great source of entertainment, as they will entertain you by giving you either an engaging story for fiction books or an engaging topic for nonfiction books, and they will stretch your brain and help you learn and get smarter by reading more and comprehending what it is that you are reading. So, go get a book and entertain yourself by reading!

Spectre Blofeld

The new James Bond movie has recently come out, starring Daniel Craig and it is called Spectre. It involves an evil organization, Spectre, hence the name, and Bond trying to stop them. The evil organization Spectre has appeared in previous James Bond 007 films, though. It made its first appearance in the very first James Bond movie, Dr. No. Spectre is basically just evil people and assassins doing evil stuff and killing people, for lack of a very specific definition of the evil organization of Spectre. In the 2015 movie Spectre, Christoph Waltz stars as the head of the evil organization of Spectre. Spectre stands for Special Executive for Counter Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion, thus SPECTRE. Christoph Waltz, as previously stated, is the head of the evil organization. He is supervillain Ernst Stavro Blofeld. However, that was not his name at the beginning. At the beginning of the movie he was known as Franz Oberhauser, and he is James Bond’s adoptive brother. However, he hates Bond, for lack of use of a better word, for stealing his father, so he killed his father. Then he changed faked his death along with his father, and he changed his name to Ernst Stavro Blofeld, and he kept trying to rise to power with his motive of dominating the world. However, Bond keeps disrupting his plans. In the end of the film Spectre, Blofeld tries to escape from Bond in a helicopter. However, Bond shoots down the helicopter and lets Blofeld get arrested.

Sickness

Now a days there is something that is not very entertaining. That is sickness. Not being healthy. Being sick. Feeling like crap. Feeling horrible. There are many ways to describe it, and those are just a few. This time of the year is the time that colds seem to be getting common, along with viruses. You do not want to get sick. It sucks. Getting sick could mean that you can’t do anything. That means that you cannot go to school, which some people like that idea of not going to school and not having to go to school. However, you would also not be able to go to work, which is not good because then if you miss too much you could get fired, and you will not get as much money then, and things start becoming one big giant mess. You will not be able to continue any sport while you are sick. If you were planning on competing at state and then you get sick, you might not be able to compete at state anymore. Also, if you get sick you will feel like crap. Absolute crud. It is horrible. It is awful. You do not want to feel that way because it just plane out sucks. It sucks big time. So do not get sick.

There are ways you can go to try and prevent yourself from getting sick. One way is to stay clean. Clean yourself daily, either a shower or a bath. Also wash your hands. Wash your hands a lot. A lot a lot. It helps. Get a lot of sleep. Do not try to survive your life with only about four or five hours of sleep a night. It will just run you down and you will keep getting sick and it sucks and it is no fun. So get plenty of sleep. At least eight hours of sleep a night. Yes that is a good idea. Eight hours of sleep a night. So if you have to wake up at five in the morning get to bed by nine at night, and if you have to wake up at seven in the morning you could, in theory, then, stay up until eleven at night each night, but that would not be recommended. In all cases, get a good nights sleep. That will help you a lot. Just try to not get sick, because being sick sucks, and you will absolutely hate it and feel like crap and it is no fun it sucks so take care of yourself!

Netflix

This past year, and as of the last few years, Netflix has really gained some popularity. It has been becoming very famous and popular, if you will, especially with the phrase that has lately been used very much of ”Netflix and chill”. That has been used a lot as of late, which has helped Netflix gain in popularity. Almost anybody you would ask would know what Netflix is, practically everybody knows of Netflix, practically everybody. There are other streaming site other than Netflix, however, that are out there. One example of one such site is Hulu and Hulu Plus. Both Hulu or Hulu Plus to be exact I think as well as Netflix stream things live to watch. By live I mean you just need wifi, and you can watch something. By something I mean tv shows or movies and such. Netflix and Hulu are both known for that. But which is better? Hulu arguably has better television shows. Hulu’s selection of television shows is greater than Netflix’s, and it has those television shows available as soon as they premiere on the actual television I believe. Netflix however does not and Netflix only has a limited selection of television shows. However, whatever you watch on Netflix has no ads what so ever. No ads to interrupt your viewing of television or film or whatever you are watching. None. No ads. Which is very nice. It is very nice being able to sit down and watch something with nothing to interrupt it. However, Hulu has ads. Hulu has a lot more ads than Netflix because Netflix has no ads while Hulu does have ads. But Hulu has more selection for tv shows and more recent additions than that of Netflix, arguably. However, Netflix does have a few good selections. Some good selections from Netflix are Family Guy, Friends, The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Flash, Futurama, That 70s Show, House, Half Baked, Once Upon a Time, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, The League, Last Shift, New Girl, Law and Order Special Victims Unit, American Dad, Gotham, Daredevil, House of Cards, Django Unchained, Jane the Virgin, Doctor Who, Criminal Minds, Men in Black II, A Night at the Roxbury, The Interview, Scrubs, Arrested Development, Batman Begins, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill Vol 1, Kill Bill Vol 2, Bones, Corpse Bride, Mortal Kombat Annihilation, Hot Rod, Pretty Little Liars, Major League, Lost, Forrest Gump, Wet Hot American Summer First Day of Camp, American Pie, Grandma’s Boy, Silver Linings Playbook, 30 Rock, Pulp Fiction, Malcom in the Middle, Silence of the Lambs, Good Will Hunting, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Zoolander, Gladiator, White Chicks, Christmas with the Kranks, Rain Man, and a lot, lot, lot more. Those are just some of the more popular and well known titles that Netflix has to offer. A few of those films mentioned actually won best picture Oscar, so those are some pretty good movies. Hulu also has a pretty nice selection, but Hulu specialized in television shows more so than in movies. Both Hulu and Netflix are great ways to stream tv shows and movies as well as to chill.

Volleyball

Volleyball is a high school sport that is played at many high school. John F. Kennedy has a volleyball team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a really good volleyball team actually. They are headed to state playoffs. State playoffs for volleyball start this week. Kennedy is playing their first game on Tuesday. It is at the U.S. Cellular Center, and it starts at 2 pm. Because of this, Kennedy is having a half day on Tuesday so that more students can go support and cheer on their fellow students and volleyball players as they play volleyball. This way there will be a lot of Kennedy students there at the U.S. Cellular Center to cheer on their volleyball team. It will be a very good and fun experience, and it will be very entertaining. Hopefully the volleyball team will play well. If they win on Tuesday, then they will move on in the tournament and play again on Thursday, this time at ten o’clock in the morning, so it is possible that Kennedy might have no school on Thursday to support students going to the U.S. Cellular Center to support and cheer on the volleyball team, however that is just a rumor and it is not guaranteed in any way.

SMART Lunch

School. It is such a big, prominent, and an important part in most young people’s lives today. Today, school has grown much more than school used to be a long time ago, and even from just a few years ago. However, I am only going to be typing today about school as in classes, and the time spent at school from the first class of the day to the last class of the day. More specifically, I will be typing about lunch, and the lunch that I will be typing about is SMART lunch. SMART lunch stands for students managing academics and responsible time, so something like that. Anyway, it has something to do with students being responsible and productive and managing time efficiently I think. Well, here goes.

SMART lunch. I think that what I said it stands for is actually what it stands for, but I am not sure. It is something like that. But anyways SMART lunch is used at John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids Community School District in Iowa of the United States of America in North America which is one of the seven continents on planet earth in the milky way galaxy in the universe. Wow that took up a lot of space. But anyways yes my high school used SMART lunch. It is about seventy minutes or so of lunch, with two tutorials of which you can eat lunch, work on homework, get help in classes, or socialize with friends and enjoy yourself. However, this poses a question: where is the best place to be during SMART lunch? What is the best thing to do during SMART lunch?

The best place to be during SMART lunch is arguably not at school. School lunch does not taste all that good, and it is not good for you. Sorry Michelle Obama, but school lunches are not healthy. Putting it bluntly, school lunches suck. That is why it is better to not be at school during smart lunch because then you can have a tastier and a healthier lunch. Yum!

Also if and when you leave for smart lunch you should do it with friends. It is a fun time and you can socialize and have fun spending time with then, if you are so inclined you can get homework and work done, if you need help you can help each other out for classes, and you can get a better tasting and a healthier lunch. There is no reason to stay at Kennedy for smart lunch except if you have to go to a tutorial for a class and to see a teacher, if you are not supposed to be able to leave during smart lunch, or if you just don’t want to leave. So entertain yourself at smart lunch!

Football-State

Football is a wonderful sport, and many would agree. It is played at many levels. Some kids play it at a very young age, starting as young as in elementary school, or even in preschool. At that time kids play it as a game for fun, rather for sport or for intensity, but rather because they enjoy it. It will usually start off as backyard games with friends at a young age, and with young kids it will usually start at two hand touch, flag football, then tackle football. In Cedar Rapids, at least, kids can start playing tackle football in the fourth grade. By that I mean the tackle football with all the pads that the players, the kids, wear, with coaches, who are usually volunteers. All in all that is usually a good experience, and pretty fun, for the kids. Then things start getting more and more intense. For those kids in the fourth grade, in the fifth grade, and in the sixth grade, they can play tackle football through Metro. It is called Metro tackle football. It is based on high school that the kids are planning on attending, so for example there will be a fourth grade Kennedy Metro Tackle Football team, a fifth grade Kennedy Metro tackle football team, and a sixth grade Kennedy Metro tackle football team. There may be many Kennedy Metro tackle football teams for each grade as well. If there are a lot of kids who are trying to play tackle football via Metro, then there will be multiple teams. For instance, if there are enough kids to warrant three sixth grade Kennedy Metro tackle football teams, then there would be a sixth grade Kennedy White tackle football team, a sixth grade Kennedy Green tackle football team, and a sixth grade Kennedy Gold tackle football team. Then for grades seven and eight, in middle school, you can play tackle football for your middle school. Then comes high school. There is a freshman football team at the high school level, composed of the freshmen that go out for football for that year. There is also a sophomore football team at the high school level, composed of the sophomores that go out for football that year. Then there is the varsity football team. That is mainly composed of the juniors and seniors who go out for football for that year, and it includes both the varsity team and the junior varsity team. The varsity team is what I am going to write about.

This year, Kennedy's Varsity Football team has done extraordinarily well. They have set a new record-they are undefeated right now and have already won two playoff games! That is amazing! We currently have only one more playoff game to play at Kingston, and that is this Friday night against Washington. That game will be a good one. We already played them, and it was a close game, yet we still beat them. Let us hope that we will beat them again. After Kennedy wins that game Friday night, we will be playing up at the UNI (University of Northern Iowa) Dome. That is pretty cool and would be a lot of fun to see. If we win that game, then we play another game at the UNI Dome: the state playoffs. That game is for the state championship. If we win it, then we win state. Go Cougs!

Scary Movies-Halloween

Around Halloween, a lot of people like to watch horror and scary movies. There are many scary movies out there, some scarier than others. Some are not all that scary at all, while others are very scary. Some are famous, in some sense, some are classics, some are remakes, some are good, some are bad, and some are just plain stupid. Here are a few of the more well known and arguably better and scarier scary movies, in the Halloween spirit: Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Scream, The Blair Witch Project, The Exorcist, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Those are just some of the more popular, and arguably scarier horror movies out there, and those tend to be more popular around Halloween time as well. So enjoy if you end up watching any!

Halloween

Halloween has come and gone, yet again. Such a different holiday, I guess, if you would call it a holiday. Some do. Some do not. People are different. But Halloween is a nice holiday for young kids. They get to dress up in costumes and pretend to be anyone that they want to be. They go door to door asking for candy. They have fun. They have huge smiles upon their tiny and young faces. That does not mean that the only people who can enjoy Halloween are young kids though. Everyone can enjoy it. There might be sports games and meets going on on Halloween. These can be at the high school level, at the college level, or even at the national and professional level. This year there were high school meets and college football games going on on Halloween. Anyone can attend or watch those and enjoy and entertain themselves. You can hand out candy at your house to the trick or treaters as they go by. That can be very entertaining being able to see all the different costumes everyone has on. And to give a kid some candy and to see the kid smile. That is a good feeling. You can also have or go to a costume party. Those are fun to go to. Go to one with friends and have a good time. You can also just hang out with friends. However, on Halloween always be careful as there are a lot of kids walking around for trick or treating. But, all in all, Halloween is a day that many, many, many people enjoy. It has so much to offer, many people love it. I hope everyone had fun this last Halloween. I hope it was a good Halloween for everyone, but I know that for some people it was not and some people just in general do not like Halloween. And I hope that everyone can enjoy Halloween next year then and be very happy as they have a lot of fun.

Fight Club

Entertainment is a very large topic, covering an array of items, things, etc. There are a few staple items, however, that people usually think about when they think of entertainment, especially today’s entertainment, or modern entertainment. A few of those staple entertaining things are music, film, reading, and even more. Today, I am going to write about a movie. This movie that I am going to be writing about is now around sixteen years old. This movie is Fight Club.

Fight Club, as previously states, was released into theatres around sixteen years ago. The release year was nineteen ninety-nine (1999). The movie had two lead actors, Edward Norton and Brad Pitt, with Norton being the more prominent actor, if you will. The movie lasts around two and a half hours, and it is a bit of a thinker movie, as some would say. As the title suggests, the movie has to do with a fight club. Going along with the subject, there are quite a few fights in the film. Even though it is a very good film, in my opinion at least, there is a lot of violence and blood, as well as language and some sexual content. That is why the film is rated R. That being said, a warning before you watch the movie, if you do.

(***WARNING SPOILERS***)

The movie, as stated previously, is kind of about a fight club. An insomniac office worker, Norton, meets a soap salesman, Pitt, and they start a fight club at a bar together. Due to an explosion in his apartment, Norton is forced to move in with Pitt. More and more people start to join their fight club, and they expand it. Also, a girl enters both of their lives, which complicates matters. However, the fight club also expands around the same time. It becomes, as they call it, project mayhem. Project mayhem quickly expands and it soon becomes a small terrorist organization, not causing harm to any people, but instead destroying either stores, buildings, or public pieces or art, such as statues. However, this is all done at night to keep from inflicting any damage upon and hurting anyone. This is when things get weird. (Now, here come the major spoilers, so if you ever want to watch this movie I advise you to stop reading this blog now.) It is revealed that Norton is not just suffering from insomnia. He also has split personality disorder. Pitt is Norton. Norton is Pitt. They are one and the same. While Pitt led project mayhem and fight club, Norton was just imagining it was Pitt while he was the one doing it. While Pitt was involved with the girl, Norton was the person really involved with her, he just thought Pitt was. This means that the big project mayhem event coming up, that “Pitt” planned with everyone, is really in the back of Norton’s mind. Racing against time to try and stop the catastrophe, Norton gets held up multiple times as project mayhem people are all around. However, he ends up in the top of the only skyscraper not to be blown up and destroyed, all alone with Pitt. Up there, multiple things are revealed. Pitt is Norton, or at least who Norton wants to be. Norton hated his old life. Pitt is the guy that Norton wishes he could’ve been. Pitt, from a psychological standpoint, is like Norton’s id. Norton and Pitt standoff, more mentally than physically. Physically, whatever happens to one happens to the other. Norton realizes that there is no way he can call off what is about to happen, and he hates what he has become, or more specifically Pitt, and who Pitt has become. He decides to end it, so he shoots himself in the mouth. He all of a sudden points the gun barrel in his mouth a pulls the trigger. Bam! Pitt is gone. Norton goes limp. Just then the girl and the project mayhem men all come up and see Norton, sitting there, blood gushing out his head and down his body. It is revealed Norton shot through his cheek, not killing him, but causing himself a severe amount of pain. He then holds hands with the girl, and they watch all the skyscrapers explode around the city. Together.

Fight Club is a very good movie. A very big thinker too. There are many different aspects and layers to it. All in all, it is a very entertaining movie and I highly recommend to watch it.

Wow! Look at that parabola!

There is this one kid in Kennedy High School. His name is Brandon Robert Koch, and he actually told me to write this blog about him. What the hell. A good two hundred or so words to waste. So here goes.

Brandon is an interesting kid. Now, I can go into depth about a lot of things about him. His personal life. His school life. His academic life. His athletic life. His religious life. His relationship life. I can go into all of those pretty decently I would say. However, this is an entertainment blog, so I am going to be writing about how Brandon Robert Koch can be very entertaining.

Brandon is pretty weird. He is a white guy that loves to rap. That can be entertaining. He also does back flips. A lot. I have a feeling that if he dies young, it will be from a bad back flip. That is just my prediction though. May not happen at all. Make your own prediction. Also, Brandon plays football and runs track. This makes him athletic, but he is in Happiness so I guess you could say he is well rounded. One instance on how entertaining Brandon is is from the latest football game. At kickoff you could hear him yell, “Wow! Look at that parabola!”

Pets

Hey guys I am back again! Back again with entertainment! Modern entertainment to be exact. Anything that entertains you. Yep. Anything. Last week I wrote about bonfires. More specifically, bonfires in the fall. This week I am going to be writing about something that entertains you, and that something is going to be a pet.

There are many pets out there that people can get. There are dogs. There are cats. There are fish. There are turtles. There are reptiles. There are many types of reptiles. Some reptiles are lizards. Another reptile is a snake. Snakes can be very big or very small. Many pets belong in a cage. Those are mainly small pets. Some of those pets are hamsters. Another example is a gerbil. Reptiles are also like that. Such as turtles. And snakes. And lizards. Fish especially need to be in a cage of some sort. They need to be in a cage with glass walls, like a bowl. It then needs to be filled with water. The pets need to be fed. Do not forget to feed fish. They will die if you forget to feed them. Another thing that will die if you forget to feed it is your motivation. If you do not feed your motivation it will start to die. Such as my motivation to write this blog. I am going to now fill in a lot of random words and sentences more or less. However, this is still entertainment because you are still reading this, and therefore, on some level, probably an unconscious level, this is entertaining to you. So you are welcome kind stranger. Or kind friend. Or kind person. That is, if I know you. Also, if I know you, then hello. How are you doing? I am currently not doing the best, but I have been worse so I can not complain. Wow. Only one hundred or so words to go. Yay.

Back to pets. Dogs are the best pets. At least they are in my opinion. That is because dogs are obviously better than cats. Cats just sit around and are like feed me. I see you are home. I am going to sit on your laptop and disturb you. I am going to sit on your face as you sleep. See? Really annoying buggers. That’s cats for you. Now dogs are so much better. That is because they are like woof woof woof which means hi you’re home now I missed you I love you I am so excited to see you. Thus, entertain yourself with pets.

Bonfires in the Fall

It is again fall, as it is every year. Fall; why is it called fall? Maybe because all the leaves fall. Yes, it is probably that. The leaves are falling, and thus fall. Yes. That makes sense. In all honesty I already knew this I just am trying to make this post even longer, so sorry for anything boring in advance. But as of right now I am only about seventy or so words in, and I need a total of twelve hundred words, so I have a lot to go. Yay. This is so much fun and very entertaining. Hey, that’s a good idea; writing posts being entertaining. Post ception. Blogging ception? I am not sure as to the official ception term to use here, but I am sure that there is one. Alright, back to the topic. What is the topic again? Fall? Leaves? This blog? Ah, yes. I remember now. This blog is all about bonfires. Here, let us get back into the post. Bonfires, here we come!

Okay. It has been one hundred and seventy nine, no one hundred and eighty, and no now one hundred and ninety two words. Wow. I am booking, all though not really. Yes that should’ve been although. Alright, bonfire. Bonfires? Well, anyway, here we go. Diving right in. Bonfires here we come. Also, side note, I am just making this post really long on purpose, so have fun reading this if you are. And good for you for sticking through this post so far! So congratulations. I want to award you, to congratulate you for your dedication. I have therefore decided that you need a high five. I am not going to give you a high five. I have absolutely no idea who you are. You are probably in Mrs. Assmussen’s class with me sometime during the day. If so, then you need a high five. I am not going to give you the high five, but you should get one from someday. If you are not in her class, you still deserve a high five.

Back to bonfires! So now that it is fall, the weather is much, much, much cooler. This means that it is time for bonfires. So go to a bonfire! Have a bonfire with your friends! That can be a lot of fun. Especially if you do fun stuff with your friends. Here are some things you can do at a bonfire: you can sit around the bonfire and talk. You can listen to music. Some people have a dance party. You can have races. You can make jokes. You guys can look up funny YouTube videos. You can all get under a blanket together just because it is cold, not because it is fun or anything but because it is cold. You can also eat. Eat a lot. Like double stuffed oreos, some popcorn, or even some chips. You can also go inside and play video games together. Some fun video games to play together are on the wii, such as Mario Kart. It can be really fun. Especially with friends. Yep. So go to a bonfire with friends. Have a good time. This has been over five hundred words. To be specific, there have been almost five hundred and fifty words so far in this post. So thank you for this. For reading my post. I am sorry for putting you through this post. It has been a lot of fluff as some would call it. Just to up the word count. This will be an easy next two posts because I have only about six hundred words left. So thank you, and go entertain yourself with a bonfire!

Homeless Night

Every year, John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, does a homeless night. This is in the fall, and it is not on a school night; rather, the day following Homeless night there is no school at all, which is very fortunate. Homeless Night is very fun and entertaining, and it is for a good cause. Money and empathy are both raised for homeless shelters as you donate money and you sleep in a box in front of the school for the entire night. I participated, and it was a lot of fun and for a good cause. Homeless Night is a great way to entertain yourself!

"Beverly Hills Cop I-II"

The movie Beverly Hills Cop is a very famous movie in America. It is also an iconic movie. It spawned two sequels, Beverly Hills Cop II as well as Beverly Hills Cop III. It stars Eddie Murphy as the star character, as Detroit cop Axel Foley. The movie is very entertaining, as it is a comedy action adventure movie.

Just a fair warning, this movie is a little bit racy. It is rated r and it stars Eddie Murphy, so that is to be expected. If you are easily offended and do not want to watch something inappropriate, then I recommend that you do not watch any of these films.

In the first film, Beverly Hills Cop, Eddie Murphy stars as Axel Foley, a Detroit cop. It starts with him going undercover in Detroit, only to get his bust busted by some cops unaware of him being undercover. This gets Axel in trouble with his superiors, and he is in hot water. Axel’s friend, Mickey, comes into town to visit and say hi, only to be murdered. Axel goes behind his superiors’ back and takes vacation days to be able to head to Beverly Hills, where Mickey was right before his murder. There, Axel investigates the murder of Mickey. However, Axel faces many problems. He has to face the bad guys, the group that sent to have Mickey killed, which are headed by some high end people. However, Axel also faces another big problem: he has to deal with the Beverly Hills Cop Department. The Beverly Hills’ cops are all annoyed with and quite frankly hate Axel. That is because he keeps disturbing the peace and breaking laws, as well as getting into a lot of trouble.

In the sequel, Beverly Hills Cop II, Axel once again returns to Beverly Hills. He is still a cop in Detroit, currently working undercover for a credit card bust, and hopefully a pretty big one. However, the captain that Axel worked with in Beverly Hills in the first movie was shot. He was working on the big case, and he got shot by someone who found out how close the captain was. When Axel arrives in Beverly Hills, the captain has just undergone surgery and is in critical condition, but by the end of the movie the captain is still alive (warning, that was just a spoiler). In Beverly Hills, Axel teams up with the two cops he was with in the original Beverly Hills Cop to find out who shot the captain and why.

In the first two movies, Beverly Hills Cop and Beverly Hills Cop II Axel Foley travels to Beverly Hills and teams up with some of the cops there in order to try and solve a murder or an attempted murder of someone that was close to him. Both movies are very entertaining, and they will be a good use of your time to have a good laugh and be intrigued in a great comedy action and adventure story!

Halloween Pumpkin Carving

It is that time of year again, or at least it almost is. It is starting to get colder, and the days are starting to get shorter. The leaves are falling off of trees, or at least they are starting to fall. Speaking of fall, it is now fall. Sweatshirts and long pants are now more common than just t-shirts and shorts. Bonfires are better this time of year as well due to the decrease in temperatures as of late. However, one thing that this time of year means is something that many people enjoy a lot. That one thing is Halloween.

Halloween, such a great time, right? Some people would say yes, while some people would say no. However, I think that the majority of people would side with yes rather than siding with no. Halloween entails a lot though. It entails many things. However, Halloween is far away because it is the beginning of October still, or I guess it is about halfway through October now. But still, we have seventeen days until Halloween. That is about two and a half weeks. That is quite a long time still, relatively speaking. However, some things are starting to involve Halloween already. One of those things has to do with big orange globes that we hollow out and carve, and make a decoration out of. That is right, you guessed it, and I am talking about pumpkin carving.

Pumpkin carving has been around for a long time. I believe it started with garlic, set out on the porch in hopes to scare away vampires and keep them from getting into your house. This, however, is completely silly. There is no such thing as vampires. However, people still did that. And over time it changed. It evolved into what it is today. Pumpkin carving evolved from garlic on porches to get rid of vampires and keep them from attacking your home.

Pumpkin carving today is a very enjoyable pastime in October for many people. A lot of people look forward to it. Many things can be used for pumpkin carving. In order to do a basic pumpkin carving, you will need a few supplies. First off, you will need a pumpkin. Not surprisingly, you do actually need a pumpkin in order to participate in pumpkin carving. Make sure it is not too small, and that the pumpkin isn’t too big either. It is a personal opinion on the size of the pumpkin. You will also need a knife. The knife will be used to cut and carve the pumpkin. Another useful tool in pumpkin carving is a big spoon. This will be helpful for gutting the pumpkin and taking out all of the pumpkin seeds and everything else from inside the pumpkin. If you do not want to just dump all of that onto the ground, then a bowl would be helpful to dump it in. Another item that is needed in pumpkin carving is needed for the final product. A candle is needed to be placed in the pumpkin to make it glow at night. You will typically light your carved pumpkin, also known as a Jack O’ Lantern as the finished product, on Halloween night.

Some basic ideas for carving a pumpkin are just faces. A scary face, a smiley face, those are two simple ideas. Just a nose, two eyes, and a mouth. A smiley face for a happy pumpkin, or a frowny face and angry eyes for an angry pumpkin. It is up to you. There are a lot of more ideas out there, but those are two really simple and basic ideas.

Now that it is October, I suggest getting a pumpkin and creating a Jack O’ Lantern. Pumpkin carving is very entertaining, especially if you do it with friends and/or family!

Homemade Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups: a great snack, a great candy bar, and a great little treat for you. However, every single time that you crave the delicious chocolate with peanut butter in the middle in cup form, do you really want to have to drive to the closest store or gas station and pick one up? Or do you want to be able to eat something equally as good, and very simple to make? Every now and then, yes, it is nice to drive to the nearest store or gas station and pick up a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. They even come in big bags containing multiple small Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, for use for a long, extended time. However, in order to entertain yourself, you can make your own homemade version of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. In order to do that, you can just get a few simple, staple foods from your house. Here is how to do it.

Get a jar of peanut butter-creamy works best. Spoon a little bit into a small bowl-however much you want is up to you and how hungry you are and how much you’re going to eat. Then, here comes the chocolate. Put a handful of chocolate chips or break apart some chocolate bars and put them into the peanut butter-how much you want is up to you. Mix the mixture up, and eat! A great way to make a small, simple snack for you that is very tasty!

An Amazing Rack of Ribs

What does every person do every day? Every day, every person all around the world does a few of the same things. Among those things are breathing, pumping blood, drinking liquids, eating foods, and sleeping. A few of those are very entertaining things for some people, and for many different reasons. For me, one of those things is very entertaining, and that is eating.

Eating is something that can be very enjoyable, and help pass the time, and is therefore entertaining. Now, I am not trying to say to eat and eat and eat and eat, because that is just unhealthy. However, food tastes good, and I enjoy eating good tasting food, so it therefore entertains me to do so. I know that many people very much enjoy eating foods as well, and there are lots and lots and lots of different types of foods out there. There are salads, fruits, vegetables, grains, wheats, meats, and many more different kinds of foods. One of those foods that I very much enjoy is meats, but more specifically I very much enjoy eating ribs.

The other night I had a rack or so of ribs, and they were amazing. They were falling off the bone with every single bite, so much that in order to eat the ribs you had to pick up the meat separately from the bone, and the bone would just fall out in doing so. These ribs were tender. They were so flavorful too, they hit the spot.

In order to make these amazing ribs, a lot of the process is in choosing the right rack of ribs. This varies from location to location and person to person, so I am going to start with once you have the ribs. You need to peel off the membrane of the ribs, and try to leave some of the fat still on the meat for the flavor. After removing the membrane, you are to apply an Applewood smoke rub to the ribs. Apply more to the bone side of the rack of ribs, as the rub will not be as affective on that side. Then, wrap the ribs in tin foil and make sure the tin foil is so very tightly wrapped around the rack of ribs as to prevent the juices from escaping. Place the ribs in the oven for about two and half hours at about three hundred degrees temperature, and then remove the ribs from the oven. Put some barbeque sauce on the ribs and place for about five minutes on a grill with the meat side down. Take the rack of ribs off the grill after five minutes, serve, and enjoy! A great way to entertain yourself and to enjoy yourself!

"The Patriot" Historical Accuracy Movie Review

The Patriot is a movie about the American Revolution. It depicts Mel Gibson as Benjamin Martin, a patriot who leads a militia in South Carolina against the British troops. While the movie The Patriot had a few similarities to the actual American Revolution, the majority of the movie was vastly different than what actually occurred during the Revolutionary War, such as the characters and the interpretation of the British.

The main similarity that was in The Patriot was in relation to the Revolutionary War as a whole itself. That similarity is guerilla warfare that the colonists used. In the movie, the British are depicted as fighting as gentlemen-they would line up and march at each other while shooting at each other in straight lines. Also in the movie, the British troops had drummers, and multiple rows of troops to fire, as they were well trained. The colonists in the movie, however, did not continue fighting in that gentlemen style. They turned to guerilla warfare. In the movie, the militia under Benjamin Martin uses guerilla warfare in South Carolina against the British troops. In doing so, the colonists were able to become highly successful and they were able to win many battles with the use of guerilla warfare.

There were also many differences. The characters, for starters, were vastly different than what actually happened in the American Revolution. Benjamin Martin was loosely based around Francis Marion, aka the Swamp Fox. The movie portrayed Benjamin Martin as feeling so guilt struck from what he did during the French and Indian War, and the guilt is practically eating him all up inside. He enlists to fight with America only out of anger of his son being brutally murdered by a British soldier. He leads a militia group in Southern Carolina. This is very different from Francis Marion. Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, is often said to be much, much worse. He was accused of committing even worse atrocities than those perpetrated by British soldiers, and he was also accused of being a serial rapist. Overall, not a very good person. This is a direct conflict with the movie, as the movie portrays Benjamin Martin as the good guy, as the guy that you root for. The movie did get correct, however, that Francis Martin did lead a militia group in South Carolina, thus the name Swamp Fox.

Another big difference between the movie and the actual events of the American Revolution was the British. The movie interpreted them differently than they actually were during the Revolutionary War. In the movie they were portrayed as horrible people. They murdered innocent children, innocent people, burnt down houses, and at one point in the movie they even gathered an entire town into a church and burned the church down, with all the people inside. These are horrible things. However, the British were not that bad. The movie portrayed them basically as Nazis-because Nazis committed those horrible acts, while the British did not. The British, yes, in our eyes were the bad guys in the Revolutionary War. However, they did not commit the horrible atrocities that The Patriot had them doing.

Therefore, as The Patriot was a very entertaining movie, it did not have a lot of historical accuracy for the American Revolution.

Friendly Pranks

Friends are close, they have fun together, and they can get on each other's nerves. Some things that friends do together are hang out, going places together, such as a football game, a sports game, a concert, or some other place. Sometimes friends do the same sports, so they are together during that sport. Or even during an activity, like speech or show choir. However, outside of those activities, friends are always doing something together it seems. Whether it being a road trip, playing games, having a bonfire, having a grill out, or even a grill out, friends tend to be together. They get into a good relationship, and they can sometimes razz each other. One way that friends razz each other is via pranks.
However, when pranking, friends must be smart. They need to remember not to do anything illegal, harmful, or anything too bad that can be taken the wrong way. Also, only do pranks to good enough friends that can take it with a laugh and will have a good time with it. I know a few friends who did a prank to someone who took it the wrong way. Long story short, only prank your friends. Some fun prank ideas to do towards your friends are to TP their house, shrink wrap their car, ding dong ditch them, write on their windows with a marker made for that, and there are so many more things to do. Always remember though, while all of that is very fun, do not do anything dangerous, illegal, or harmful, and you will have a great time!

"Nice People"

The theatre is a big thing now a days. Many people go to the theatre. Some people travel to New York to see a Broadway production. Some to other big cities such as Chicago. Some people will even travel out of the United States of America-to a whole other country. To London, to Paris, or even somewhere else to see the theatre and some theatre production there. That being said, the theatre is very prominent in our everyday lives today, whether we realize it or not. We all know someone or some people that are very into the theatre, and the theatre is just increasing with its popularity with each passing day and each passing minute.

This past weekend, Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, had a play. It was entitled “Nice People” and it was written by a Kennedy alum, Alosha Robinson. It was about working people who, contrary to the title of the play, are not very nice. They cheat on each other, get angry with each other, tell secrets, and even hire a hobo to fake an attempt at someone’s life. It seems as if the play has it all. It was a comical play, and Kennedy High School’s production of “Nice People” was the very first time ever that “Nice People” appeared on stage. Due to the nature of the play, as well as the jokes, references, and other aspects, the play had a content rating of being pg13. However, it was still a very entertaining play. It produced a lot of laughs from the audience and kept everyone enthralled. The play was a shorter one, lasting only about one hundred or so minutes total, which includes a fifteen minute intermission.

I recommend seeing this play. It is being played one last time at Kennedy High School this Thursday, October eighth. Fair warning, it can be a little inappropriate with some sexual references and some language and crude dialogue. However, if you are okay with that, then the play is a must see. It will keep you laughing and entertained. All of the actors and actresses did really well at their parts, with many parts ranging from a “whore” as she was called in the play to a love struck goody girl, and from a hobo to a cheating rich husband to a very well-intentioned man. The character development seemed pretty good, and the whole play flowed pretty well. It kept moving, and there was hardly a dull spot in the entire play. I highly recommend seeing “Nice People”!

Friends are Better than the Internet

As the world turns, another day goes by, another week, another month, another year, another decade, and soon another century. Even though we might not still be alive by the turn of the century, a lot will change. A lot will continue to change with each passing century. Just think about it, just one hundred years ago there were no computers, there was no internet, and there was no television. Those items, those things, that of which we interact with every day, that of which we use to entertain ourselves almost every day, it did not exist one hundred years ago. Right now, what are you doing? Reading this blog. How are you reading this article? Well, this blog is on the internet. That means that somehow you are surfing the web, browsing the internet. A smartphone possibly? A tablet? A computer? A laptop? What type, too? An IPhone or an Android? An IPad or a Microsoft Surface? A Dell or a Mac? A Chromebook or a MacBook? Or are you reading this article while using some other electronic device that you choose to browse the internet with? Whatever the case, the fact still remains that you are browsing the internet, reading this blog. However you came to this blog, I am not sure, but you are here now. It is very likely that you did not choose to read this blog, and that you somehow happens upon it while on the internet. In that case, I must ask you a very pressing question: Why?

I do not mean that why in a bad way; I love that fact that you are reading my blog. However, the question remains. Why? Why are you reading this blog-my blog? Why are you on the internet? Why are you not interacting with others? Why are you not socializing? Playing with friends? Making memories? Doing something fun and exciting that you will remember down the road? The answer, however, does not appear to matter at the moment. That is because you are still here, still reading this blog. Why? Why are you reading this blog? It could very possibly be that the reason that you are still here reading my blog has nothing to do with the content of my blog at all, and that it could have everything to do with the way that you are reading my blog. This poses another question: Is the internet really that addicting? Are you really just reading this blog just because it is on the internet?

I hope you are not. I hope that you are not just reading my blog because it is on the internet. However, it seems that now a days many people are addicted to the internet and cannot get away from it. That they feel like they need the internet. That they cannot be away from it, and thus they cannot be away from their electronic device or electronic devices. In which case, I must ask another question: What happened? When talking to my parents and all the memories that they have, all the best memories from their childhood was with their friends. Doing things together. Having fun. Staying active. Being kids. Playing. Don’t get me wrong, the internet can be great-I am posting this blog on the internet after all. However, I must be clear on my message. Go out and play. Hang with your friends. Have a fun time. Be active. Have fun together. Make some new, lasting memories that you will never forget, instead of just surfing the internet, because in a few years you won’t be able to remember that tweet or that post, but you will be able to look back on the memories that you made and the friends that you had and you will be able to smile.

Worldly Cuisine

Every day, every human being on earth does a few of the same things. One of those many things is eat. Everyone needs to eat. Now, that doesn’t mean that it has to be a boring and tedious task. Many people, including myself, greatly enjoy eating. That brings something along with it; what to eat? Well, that depends on where you are at times. Different parts of the world eat different types of food. As eating food is very enjoyable and entertaining to some people, I am going to go through some different types of food around the world for ideas on what to try eating. First, in Spain, churros are very popular. Leche Merengada is also very popular in Spain, and it is a Spanish milkshake. In France, some popular foods are cheese, bread, and wine. In Japan, some popular foods are sushi, and in China some popular foods are chicken and rice. In India, spicy foods are common, and in Mexico, spicy foods are also kind of common, such as tacos and burritos. America, however, has everything. There are places you can get churros, nice wine, sushi houses, Chinese restaurants, and there are also Mexican restaurants. Eating is entertaining for me, so I suggest you go out and try various types of food from around the world!

High School Football: Kennedy v Jefferson

High school is something that now a days practically everyone goes through, with only a very few amount of exceptions. High school means, for a lot of people, having fun with friends, being teenagers, doing things that you won’t be able to do when you’re older, and making experiences. A lot of people will participate in an activity, a lot of times one or more sports, throughout their high school career. Some sports are very popular, such as football, while some are not as popular, such as tennis. I don’t mean to put tennis down at all-I am just stating that tennis is not as popular in high school as football is. The popularity that football brings also brings another aspect: fans. Going to your high school football game is a lot of fun, and you get to see a lot of people you know there and a lot of friends, either in the stands or on the field.

This last Friday, on September twenty fifth, John F. Kennedy High School played Jefferson High School. These two high schools are city rivals in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They played at Kingston Stadium, with the Kennedy Cougars the home team. Kennedy beat Jefferson, thirty five to sixteen. The kickoff was scheduled for seven fifteen pm, but was closer to around seven thirty pm.

High school football games, such as the one mentioned above, are great games to go to and participate in. They are a lot of fun, especially when you go with and are with friends at the game. It is a lot of fun to go in a group. At the Kennedy game, the student section was very crowded, as a lot of Kennedy students go to the football games. It always gives a sense of belonging to your school. It is like the concept of nationalism, but instead of that feeling towards your nation, it is that feeling toward your high school. It helps to bring the high school students together and make them feel as one. Along with being a great experience with friends, it is always a lot of fun to watch a football game. Especially high school football games for many reasons. One reason is for the players. More likely than not, a high schooler will know some of the football players, and possibly even be good friends. It is always great to cheer on your friends. Another reason is to watch a football game, which is always a lot of fun (at least it is for me because I enjoy watching football). It is even more fun to watch if your high school wins, which is always very fun and enjoyable. Therefore, high school football games are a great experience, such as the one between Kennedy and Jefferson this last Friday night. It is a great time and is highly recommended by myself!

Learning About History: Movies

History is an important thing, and is pretty interesting at times (in my opinion at least). However, reading from a book about history can get really boring, and I mean it can get so boring that you might even fall asleep. That is especially the case with really dry, boring, and hard to understand history books and textbooks. This poses an important question: How to learn more about history without getting so bored? Learning about history can be very enjoyable and very entertaining-if done in an entertaining way that is. That means not just reading out of a textbook, or at least that is what it means for me. One way to learn about history is through movies. Whether it be a documentary, a short film, a television movie, or a feature film, many movies can teach a lot and be packed full with historical knowledge.

A large handful of movies it seems now a days are based on either a true story, are based on real people and real events, or are related to something that actually happened. This sometimes leads to a common misconception: that a movie is always one hundred percent correct over the topic it covers. This is sometimes the case, and if you are looking for a movie like that then your best bet is to look at a documentary. However, documentaries are sometimes dull and slow moving and not as entertaining as other movies and films. Some people are entertained by documentaries, but that is not me. I don't want to just learn; I want to learn, relax, and enjoy. That leads me to my favorite of the choices: a feature film. Whether the feature film is based on a true story, based on real people or real events, or just related to something that actually happened, I prefer those over documentaries and television movies or a short film. That is because they are made to entertain.

Feature films that deal with historical events are very entertaining. They usually have an interesting plot, characters that you usually learn to love or hate, and you learn something about history as well. If you're ever bored and want to be productive and entertain yourself at the same time, then I recommend a feature film dealing with a historic event in some way shape or form. Some examples of such feature films are: Pearl Harbor, The Patriot, The Passion of the Christ, Braveheart, Revolution, Annabelle, A Haunting in Connecticut, American Sniper, Schindler's List, Captain Phillips, Zero Dark Thirty, Argo, Black Mass, Pompeii, Apollo 13, Remember the Titans, We Are Marshall, Hotel Rwanda, and Gladiator. All of these feature films have something to do with a historical event; either are based on a true story, based on real people, real events, or are related to something that actually happened. However, some of these movies are more historically accurate than others. Also, this list is just a list of some movies that I have heard of or seen myself that are entertaining movies to watch and have to do with a history in some way shape or form. I highly recommend watching one or more of these movies, as they will entertain you and you will learn something from them as well.

"Simple Man"

Many people entertain themselves with music. Whether it be listening to music, composing music, making music, music can be very entertaining. In particular, some certain types of music seem to be more entertaining than others, and even more specifically, certain songs seem to be more entertaining. One way to see how entertaining a song appears to be would be the amount of covers of that song that have been made. Not the covers made by people who do covers of songs regularly, but that does help, but I mean when bands make a cover of another bands song. Whether this be live at concert only, or for an album. One such example is the song Simple Man, originally by Lynyrd Skynyrd. This song has been made a cover by a few bands, most notably by the band Deftones, Confederate Railroad, and perhaps the most famous cover by Shinedown. Shinedown has made two versions of the song, an acoustic version as well as a rock version, and their cover of Simple Man is very popular. However, the original by Lynyrd Skynyrd is arguably more popular and better known, but it can be argued that the Shinedown cover (either the acoustic or the rock version of the song) is the most well-known cover. Many people are fans of either Lynyrd Skynyrd, Shinedown, or both, and they entertain themselves with listening to their songs. One of those songs is Simple Man, entertaining a large amount of people around the world as they listen to the song, no matter the artist.

NCAA Football: Pittsburgh at Iowa

Fall is nearly upon us, and for many people that means something important is happening: that it is football season again! Both National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Football and National Football League (NFL) are starting up, even though the NFL pre-season is already all over. This weekend, September 19th and 20th of 2015, mark the third week of NCAA Football and the second week of the NFL. However, today, Saturday, September 19, many people entertained themselves with NCAA games. Many people I know gathered together and watched at least one game. While driving today usually I just listen to some CDs, but today I tuned to the AM radio station 600 and listened for the games currently going on (I recommend radio station 600 to listen to games, particularly Iowa Hawkeye games). Many people in my neighborhood even gathered together and watched some games today. Whether the kickoff in the morning or at night, many people entertained themselves today by watching a NCAA Football game, and some people watched more than one. Many teams played today, with one in particular sticking out for me: the Iowa Hawkeyes playing the Pittsburgh Panthers. This game may have stood out to me in particular because I am an Iowa Hawkeye fan, but I know of some people who are neither Hawkeye fans nor Panther fans and yet they still watched the game. This game was a very good and entertaining game.
The game was played at Iowa, at Kinnick Stadium, and kickoff time was scheduled for 7 pm. The game itself was a close one; Iowa took the lead by the end of the first quarter with a field goal, leading three to zero. In the second quarter, Iowa got two touchdowns and was able to get the extra point for both touch downs. However, Pittsburgh also got a touchdown, but they only got one. They did, however, also get their extra point. Going into the half the score was seventeen to seven, Iowa in the lead. In the third quarter, Pittsburgh got another touchdown and extra point, and they were able to get a field goal as well. At the end of the third quarter the score was tied at seventeen. In the fourth quarter, both Iowa and Pittsburgh got a touchdown and an extra point, tying the game again at twenty-four.
At about this time, things were getting interesting. Iowa had the ball at Pittsburgh’s forty-seven yard line, which was fifty-seven yards from the field goal post. It was fourth down and two to go, and there were two seconds left on the clock, with the game tied at twenty-four. At this time, everyone that I knew that was watching the game had their eyes glued to the television, unable to look anywhere else in anticipation of what would happen. Iowa was going to attempt a fifty-seven yard field goal in order to try and win the game. With everyone’s eyes glued to the television, the ball was snapped, and thud! the ball was air born. It sailed through the air, and went right in between the two field goal posts. The field goal was good, and Iowa had just won the game. Everyone around me was cheering, and were so happy that Iowa had gotten another victory (at least all the Iowa fans were).

Today many NCAA games aired on the television and were played, providing entertainment to many people who watched the games. It was one way that many people spent their day, and it is always a good time, made even better if the team you are rooting for wins. If you’re ever looking for entertainment, I suggest getting together with a couple friends and watching a football game together; it is always a blast.

New Bohemia Half Marathon

Two weekends ago, labor day weekend, on Saturday, September sixth, New Bohemia (which is better known as NewBo) hosted a half marathon and 10k race. Due to the heat of that weekend, the race was moved to a very early starting time of seven thirty in the morning, as to try and avoid as much of the scorching heat as possible. Both the half marathon and 10k were ran at the same time, and both had the same start line and finish line, the start line being a few blocks from the NewBo Market and the finish line being at the NewBo Market. Both the half marathon and the 10k race courses traveled down by the river and along it, and onto the trail by the river after a mile or so of running on road. The half marathon course, which is what I ran, went back and forth from the dirt trail in trees and beside the river to a paved cement road. In total, about eight hundred people ran in either the half marathon or the 10k, with many age ranges. This was one way that many people entertained themselves throughout the summer, with training for the race. Even though it was not all that big of a race, many people still participated. In order to get ready for the race (either the half marathon or 10k, but especially the half marathon) the runners had to train. As for me, I ran almost every day from Monday to Friday for most of the summer for cross country training. I just carried that training over for the NewBo half marathon. It was a great entertainment running the half marathon and something that I strongly suggest that everyone try to do: run a race. Whether that being anything as small and noncompetitive as a 5k Color Run (which are still loads of fun) or something as competitive as, for example, the Boston Marathon, running a race is a great thing to do. It is something that I highly recommend, and think that everyone should do at some point in their lifetime.
